1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
-- Worried about anarchy, worried about kids in the military, and I've done more singing in the past month than I had done in the past ten years.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
-- No, and probably not.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
-- Yes.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
-- Yes.

5. What countries did you visit?
-- None. I barely visited two other states (Arizona and Nevada)

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
-- More time, more sleep, and a house cleaner.

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
-- April 7th, my son started walking, and I realized how far from baby-safe my house really is.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
-- I didn't have any "big" achievements, really. Getting Andrew to sleep in his own bed was surprisingly difficult.

9. What was your biggest failure?
-- I didn't have any of those either. Maybe having Andrew come back to our bed (for the past three weeks) after we went away on a weekend trip.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
-- Thank goodness all of us have been mostly healthy, with a bit of the day-care cold hanging about.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
-- Quite a selection of baby things, shape sorters and basic puzzles probably. Or maybe the non-toxic pen for the baby who loves to draw.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
-- Andrew's, but that's just because he's a cute little kid. Those folks who worked hard to ensure a fair election also deserve kudos.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
-- George W. Bush and his entire administration, Fox "News" and their ilk, which unfortunately now includes CNN.

14. Where did most of your money go?
-- Buying baby stuff, of course. Actually, mortgage & taxes.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
-- Each big step Andrew achieved, learning to walk, learning to talk, multiword sentences.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?!
-- I don't know, I haven't been listening to music much. Maybe "The Wheels on the Bus" or "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel"... both songs that Andrew has been requesting, a lot.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? about the same
iii. richer or poorer? richer, if for no other reason because the house appreciated in value.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
-- Sleep, work, played with baby.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
-- Procrastinated, wasted time.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
-- Working, I expect. Possibly having Chinese food per tradition.

22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
-- Nope. But being happily married generally keeps people from doing that.

23. How many one-night stands?
-- 0.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
-- Nope, didn't watch enough to make that decision.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
-- I had the misfortune to listen to too much news coverage, and I really really hate that pair on Hannity & Colmes on Fox News.

26. What was the best book you read?
-- Sadly, I don't remember. I rather enjoyed Eyre Affair by Fforde.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
-- There are children's songs that do not suck, although additional recommendations would be much appreciated.

28. What did you want and get?
-- My baby developing normally.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
-- The Incredibles. One of a very small number of films I saw.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
-- Went out to a lovely, baby-less dinner with my husband. And the next morning, I got to sleep in. :) And I'm 34.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
-- Getting the house fixed up. Getting a new kitchen.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
-- Comfort over style.

34. What kept you sane?
-- Family time, the occasional night off, and having date nights with C.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
-- Nope, I don't like any of them.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
-- The election and electronic voting.

37. Who did you miss?
-- I miss having time to chat with my sister. But in terms of people who are gone, I miss Justin.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
-- I didn't meet too many people, but I got to know [livejournal.com profile] src and S better, and that was really nice.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
-- There is very little you can do to influence others. The best you can do is be there when something bad
happens to help, and be there when something good happens to cheer them on.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
-- Barenaked Ladies, Who Needs Sleep?
Who needs sleep?
(well you're never gonna get it)
Who needs sleep?
(tell me what's that for)
Who needs sleep?
(be happy with what you're getting
There's a guy who's been awake
since the Second World War)
