Request: Can we Borrow a Sleeping Bag?

My cousin (the one from Germany) is going camping. Unfortunately we don't have a spare sleeping bag. Does anyone have a warm sleeping bag she could borrow for the weekend (Thursday through Monday)?

We have 2 available nice sleeping bags, though there are potentially recent cold germs on them. =/ Or I have a different old one that doesn't look pretty and is a little heavy and noisy but is water-repellent and hasn't been exposed to anything for years. =) Of the first two, there's one thinner (3lb) and one thicker (4lb), the thicker is rated to -5°F, the other should be just above zero, I think. The older one should be good into the 40s, at least.

The easiest would be to stop by our place sometime. Hubby's been home much of the days, and I at least should be home the next couple of evenings. I'll email you directions.

Hmm... easiest for me would be dropping by directly from work. But I'm on baby-pick-up duty this week (C is off gallivanting around conferences) so it would have to be sometime before 5 p.m. I'd prefer to do it tomorrow, because I don't know when my cousin is leaving on Thursday (I think evening, but I don't want to risk it). So, when can I drop by tomorrow day?

We'll probably take both sleeping bags (and only use one). Decisions are hard. :) And neither of us has been in Yosemite this time of year, so we don't know what to expect.

FYI: Someone, perhaps threnkeldwingnu, was up in the Sierras in the Yosemite area and he said it actually snowed up there (a very little bit...I think it was the weekend it rained here) causing him to cut his stay short. I don't expect it is going to snow much soon, however, you might consider having ZsuZsa take the heavier sleeping bag. If it is too warm, she can always unzip it. But my experience is that if you don't have a bag that is warm enough, well that's a miserable experience. Also, you might want to find a Therm-a-rest or other camp mat for her to borrow. It will both be more comfortable than sleeping directly on the ground and also insulate her from the cold ground.

Anyway, a couple of thoughts I hope are useful.

I'll have you call Stuart (his cell's in that post) - he's the one who should be home before 5. I'll tell him to expect you. Or if he's out, call me (cell number in that post) and I work less than 10 minutes away from home.

If you're going to Yosemite, yeah, you'll probably want the two newer bags - we were up in Lassen last weekend and it got into the 30s overnight and there was evidence of last week's first snow up on the mountain. Those bags kept us warm, though. You can also zip them together to make one big bag and use the heavier one on top to stay warmer.
