Who, me?

Stop what you're doing, drop everything, and go right out and get a copy of John Brunner's Stand on Zanzibar. Along with The Sheep Look Up, The Jagged Orbit and most especially The Shockwave Rider, it had the most effect on my life. Brunner basically invented cyberpunk and the hacker novel a decade or so before William Gibson and everyone else picked up on it.
