Cleaning...

I've always been a proponent of hiring others to do the work you don't want to do. Occasionally, I decide that it's not financially worth it... so I cancel the cleaners, and we try to maintain the house ourselves. After about 3 months, I just had the cleaners out again. In an hour and a half, they scrubbed the house. There is still plenty to do, but it seems much more manageable now that the base level cleanliness is so much higher. I firmly believe that many a marriage & relationship could be saved if the issue of who cleans up after whom were eliminated.

I'm looking forward to messing up my nice clean house tomorrow with guests.

FWIW, I've found it worthwhile to just have somebody in to deal with the kitchen and the bathroom[s], and run a vaccuum over the carpet, even if they don't actually get into the clutter. It always feels just a touch less cluttered to me when there's less dirt.
